Jamaican Jazz Orchestra

Guitarist and composer Wouter Rosseel’s love for Django Reinhardt, Sonny Rollins and swing jazz on one hand, and reggae, rocksteady and ska on the other has moved him to create Jamaican Jazz Orchestra. In the first place it’s all about the creation of an original mix between music originating from Jamaica and jazz. Nevertheless you will notice that occasionally afrobeat, ethiojazz and nyahbinghi are also incorporated. Joining a team of eight first class musicians – that have played with the likes of Lee ‘scratch’ Perry, Congo Ashanti, Pura Vida, Tiny Legs Tim and many more – you can expect original tunes, clever compositions, summer vibes and great jazz musicians with a reggae attitude. Keep an eye out for their forthcoming album this fall.

Wouter Rosseel – guitar, compositions
Marie-Anne Standaert – trumpet
Tobias Storme – trombone
Bruno van der Haegen – tenor sax

Jamaican Jazz will be playing at Trefpunt Friday the 6th of April. (23:40 > 00:40)
